Set in 1946 singer Nelly has been released from Auswichz with a disfigured face. After reconstructive surgery she embarks, aided by her friend who plans for them both to move to Palestine with the inheritance that has been recovered, on a search for her husband. He doesn't recognise her new face and enrols her to play the role of his presued dead wife in order for her to re-appear and claim the inheritance for hi - for which she will be paid.

So she embarks on being tutored by her husband to plan the role of Nelly and when she "returns" she reveals the truth
