Review of "Meek's Cutoff"

Deliberately slow and thoughtful. Sound irrelevant (no words for first 10mins and most of the dialogue is deliberately inaudible because it doesn't matter) a deeply engrossing film with a classic Kelly Reichart ending (see Night Moves)

Review of "Captain Phillips"

quite gripping as a thriller, totally boys film - only two women appear his wife in the first 2 minutes and a doctor in the last 2 minutes. Interesting to read the true story and see how it has been adapted - not too badly sexed up it seems although perhaps he wasn't as much a hero as painted in the film.
