A man has his throat slashed in a barbers chair. A pregnant girl collapses in a shop and is rushed to hospital where she dies but the baby survives. The midwife in the Emergency Room finds the a card from a Russian Restaurant and the girls diary, written in Russian - she has a Russian Uncle and takes it to him. She has also recently lost a baby (and a partner who left her)

The midwife visits the restaurant and meets the owner. And his son and his son's sidekick who are pretty dodgy.

The diary reveals some nasty secrets about these people who are then trying to recover it and things spiral out of control.
