Synopsis
Dystopian near future in California/Arizona once climate change has made it uninhabitable and created a vast sand dune desert in the SW. People hang on after official evacuation. Our heroine and hero steal a baby and flee pitching up at a community/sect on the fringe of the dune sea.

OK, if slightly troubling, for the first section in California and the flight. It should have ended when they ran out of petrol, but each of them gets miraculously reborn and the tale loses its way
