Review of "Panique au Village (A Town Called Panic)"

A masterpiece of the surreal. Silly, crazy, unlikely, logical in its own world (and more or less in ours), escapist, surprising, cheap and cheerful, obviously a labour of love and obsession to make, hugely entertaining. A child's toy-box world complete and entire within itself.

Review of "Violent Playground"

Set in Liverpool on a real location problem estate that had gone downhill since built in the 30s. Good story, although Stanley Baker's conversion from "lock em up" to "look after them" seemed a bit sudden. Interesting locations. Excellent child actors playing the young twins. Peter Cushing as the RC priest.

Review of "The Gods Must Be Crazy 2"

Not laugh out loud funny as the original this, suffers from sequel syndrome. Not as good as the original and tries too hard. Repeating a formula that worked once but has now lost its charming naivety. Still tolerable though. The bush plane is interesting - actually a modified genuine ultralight (Lazair)

Review of "Suburbicon"

Written and produced by the Coen brothers with Clooney it has their stamp. Slightly confusing in some plot points but a classic Coen bros small film.
