Review of "True Grit"

Classic Western very well shot and told. Excellent not OTT contribution from Hailee Steinfeld as the girl holding her own without stealing the show.

Review of "Ghost in the Shell (1)"

Japanese Anime animation from comic book. OK but a little slow at times and some interesting visuals but some spurious teenage boy obsession with breasts!

Review of "The Hide"

Fairly good adaptation from obvious stage play, a few unnecessary gimmicks (flashes into the mind of the younger man with images of crows picking maggoty flesh in a field). Twist obvious from about half way (once he was talking about his wife) but that didn't matter

Review of "Route Irish"

Good story as vehicle for exploring some issues around 'security' industry and paramilitary workings in Iraq and consequences on lives of protagonists. Some action scenes a bit plastic (where they improvised?) and carton like.
