Synopsis

The beings that watch over the earth give a random man the power to do miracles to see what happens. The man chosen is a working class shop-worker (draper's assistant). As he explores his new power he discovers the way society is ordered (interestingly some digs at the bankers as baddies). He gets advice from various people and tries to create a socialist utopia by ordering the great and good to work for the common good. In doing so he sops the world turning which causes everything to fly off into space - frightened by his power he puts everything back the way it was before he got the power and relinquishes the power

From the HG Wells short story. I felt the ending was a cop-out with the little man learning that he must stay in his place and the gods that watch over the world promising some sort of trickle down effect to make everything alright
