Review of "Matter"

All the grand sweep that you expect from these books with some interesting ideas (Shellworlds) and crosslinks between the mundane savage emerging civilisations and the overarching galactic Culture with hints of things beyond even that. But at the end of the day these books have no respect for the human individuals in their cast of billions.

Review of "Against the Day"

The great Tristram Shandy updated and expanded to cover the lives and loves of the Traverse family scions of Webb the anarchist. Resolutions and explanations rendered obselete by the flowing of a great river which carries on as we scramble to the bank and shake the last drops off our bodies.
