Review of "The Heart of Darkness"

Surprisingly un- explicit, story told as first person narration within a framing device (waiting for the tide to turn) but we never get to know Kurtz or what he has been doing at all - everything by allusion and hints, the dying "The horror, the horror" words are left entirely to the reader's imagination to fill in (room 101?)

Written in three voices (maids Aibleen and Minny and the autor Skeeter) very engrosing and absorbing story. Paints a clear picture of life both as a maid and also as an independent minded person growing in a stifling environment of friends and conventional expectations and not knowing what to want.
