Review of "The Gods Must Be Crazy 2"

Not laugh out loud funny as the original this, suffers from sequel syndrome. Not as good as the original and tries too hard. Repeating a formula that worked once but has now lost its charming naivety. Still tolerable though. The bush plane is interesting - actually a modified genuine ultralight (Lazair)

Review of "Rashomon"

Its a classic which presages many elements in subsequent films. A bit slow paced at times with some over-expressive acting (but you could call that 'style'). The inner story told from four different points of view is not as outrageous as the main teller says, but as subject for a meditation on perception, ambiguity and reality it works well. In the end the truth is what you decide it is - which is perhaps something that resonates uncomfortably for us in these Trumpian times.

Review of "The Best Years of Our Lives"

Fascinating both for the picture of small town America in 1946 and for the drama of the characters re-establishing their lives.
